Nuestro
padre parti— f’sicamente la śltima tarde de la primera dŽcada de este siglo.
Muri—
tranquilamente, rodeado de sus amados Xoloitzcuintles en Cuernavaca, el lugar
donde naci— y donde quiso fundar su familia y su criadero. Quienes lo amamos
nos quedamos tristes, con la sensaci—n de que su partida fue prematura. La vida
es as’ de impredecible y a veces los hombres buenos se van demasiado pronto.
ŔQuŽ
escribir sobre un hombre tan extraordinario en tantas facetas de su vida? Su
calidad de Ser Humano fue el mayor de sus talentos, como padre y abuelo fue
insuperable, el mejor amigo, maestro y apoyo con el que siempre contamos sus
hijos y nietos. 
Fue tambiŽn
un maravilloso amigo siempre dispuesto a ayudar, a aconsejar, a acompa–ar. El
prolongado y emotivo aplauso que recibi— en la Federaci—n Can—fila Mexicana el
11 de febrero de 2011 fue un hermoso
homenaje que le brindaron sus amigos de cuatro dŽcadas en testimonio de esa
cualidad que lo distingu’a.
Fue tan
generoso, que en las pr—ximas semanas el Gobierno de la Repśblica Popular de
China donar‡ dos pandas gigantes j—venes al zool—gico de Chapultepec, a cambio
de cuatro Xoloitzcuintles donados por Rafael GimŽnez que ir‡n al zool—gico de
Beijing.
ŔY quŽ
decir de Žl como criador?
Gracias a su trabajo, dedicaci—n y amor por el Xoloitzcuintle fue
conquistando a lo largo de su vida todos los honores a los que se puede aspirar
en la canofilia. Debido a los t’tulos que obtuvieron sus perros fue criador del
a–o en MŽxico 4 veces en solitario y una m‡s que comparti— con Fidel por
generosidad, pues el mŽrito fue suyo. Logr— cientos de campeonatos mexicanos, y
much’simos internacionales, mundiales, y nacionales en pa’ses como Estados
Unidos, Canad‡, Inglaterra, Alemania, Suecia, Finlandia, Rusia, Polonia,
Hungr’a, Cuba, Guatemala, Israel y una larga lista de lugares d—nde sus
ejemplares cimbran los podios y dan muestra de lo que es el Xoloitzcuintle
Mexicano, el perro milenario. Hoy
sus Xolos se encuentran por todo el mundo y muestran mucho a favor de MŽxico y
su cultura.
Muchos de
sus ejemplares obtuvieron mejores de exposici—n y recientemente el śltimo de
ellos, el extraordinario Tenango, bajo su mano experta fue ŇPerro del A–oÓ en
2008 y 2010 y rompi— todos los rŽcords de la canofilia mexicana, habiendo
obtenido 79 veces ŇMejor de Exposici—nÓ en
exposiciones oficiales de todas las razas.
Contribuy— decisivamente
con su enorme visi—n, talento y cultura al rescate y proyecci—n mundial de
nuestra raza. ÁQuŽ paradoja que haya partido un d’a antes del pleno
reconocimiento del Xoloitzcuintle en Estados Unidos, que finalmente se obtuvo y
fue algo que siempre quiso!
Se adelant— por el r’o del Mictl‡n
un campe—n de la cr’a en MŽxico y en el mundo, un can—filo de cepa y de cuerpo
entero, alguien que no faltaba a las exposiciones, a quien acompa–amos desde
los a–os 70Ős a reiniciar incontables veces el camino de depositar su esperanza
en algśn cachorro y lograr convertirlo en un gran campe—n. Seguramente fue
c—modamente escoltado en ese viaje final por miles de Xolos a los que en vida
am—, cuid—, aliment— y protegi—.
A nosotros
y a sus adorados nietos AndrŽs Rafael, Bego–a, Gerardo, Elisa, AmŽrica, Samuel
y Valentina, nos dej— un legado
impresionante: su pie de cr’a formado por decenas de maravillosos Xolos de los
tres tama–os; un gran prestigio que cuidar y muchas ense–anzas para seguir
trabajando con el mismo amor por mejorar al Xoloitzcuintle, al que el Gigante
de la raza dedic— la mayor parte de su vida y sus recursos y toda su pasi—n y
entusiasmo.

Our Father
left physically the last afternoon of the first decade of this Century.
He died peacefully surrounded by his beloved
Xoloitzcuintles in Cuernavaca, the place where he was born and where he decided
to found his family and his kennel. Us, the ones who loved him remained sad,
with the feeling that his passing was premature. Life is as unpredictable as
that and sometimes the good men leave too soon.
What to say about such an extraordinary man in so many
facets of his life? His quality as
a human being was his greater talent, as a father and a grandfather he was
unbeatable, the best friend, teacher and support his children and grandchildren
always had. 
He was also a wonderful friend, always available to
help, advise and give his company to others. The long and heartfelt applause he
received in the Mexican Kennel Club (FCM) on February 11, 2010 was a beautiful
testimony of love to that quality he had, by his friends of 4 decades.
He was so generous, that thanks to him in the
following weeks the Government of the PeopleŐs Republic of China will donate 2
young Giant Panda Bears to the Zoo of Chapultepec in Mexico City in exchange
for 4 of his Xolos that will go to BeijingŐs Zoo.
And what to say about him as a dog breeder? Thanks to
his work, devotion and love for the Xoloitzcuintle he conquered along his life
every honour anyone can aspire to in the dog world: Because of the
championships earned by his breedings he
won four times alone and one shared with Fidel (being all his merit) the title of ŇBreeder of the YearÓ.
His dogs achieved hundreds of titles in Mexico, many international and world championships
and national titles in countries like Canada, U.K., Germany, Sweden, Finland,
Russia, Poland, Hungary, Cuba, Guatemala, Israel and a long list of places
where his dogs make the rings shake and show what the Mexican Xoloitzcuintle
really is, the millenary dog. Today his dogs are placed all over the globe and
show very mucho f Mexico and our culture of over 30 centuries.
Many
of his dogs were awarded ŇBest in ShowÓ. His last star, the extraordinary
Tenango, guided by his expert hand was awarded ŇDog of the YearÓ in 2008 and
2010 in Mexico, breaking every record of the Mexican Kennel Club (FCM) by winning 79 official
all-breed Best in Shows.
He contributed decisively with his enormous vision,
talent and culture to the rescue and World wide recognition of our national
breed. What a paradox that he left one day before the full recognition of the
Xoloitzcuintle by the American Kennel Club, something he always wanted.
He went
ahead through the Mictlan River. A Champion of dog-breeding in Mexico and in
the World, a dog lover from every side, someone who wouldnŐt miss a dog show, with
whom we went to the shows since the 1970Ős to restart over and over again the
task of putting his hope in a
puppy and after a little while watch him become a super star.
We like to think he was comfortably escorted in his
last journey by thousands of Xolos loved, fed and protected by him in his
lifetime.
He left for us and his beloved grandchildren AndrŽs
Rafael, Bego–a, Gerardo, Elisa, AmŽrica, Samuel and Valentina, an impressive
legacy: his breeding stock of tens of Xolos of all three sizes; an enormous
prestige to keep, and many lessons to keep working with the same love to
improve the real Xoloitzcuintle, the one the Giant of the breed devoted most of
his life, his personal resources and all his passion and enthusiasm.
